Mini-Hawks

Welcome to the Mini-Hawks Program!

Mini-Hawks is a U4 and U5 developmentally appropriate soccer program
for beginning players between the ages of 3-5

Eight weekly sessions include the four components of soccer:

• Mental (having fun, sportsmanship...)
• Physical (gross motor skills, balance...)
• Technical (dribbling /moving the ball, fun games…)
• Tactical (passing, shooting, defending…)

Sessions are held Saturday mornings
during the Fall and Spring season at Hotchkiss Park in Prospect
(a parent/adult is asked to remain on site during each session)

All players should wear shin guards and sneakers or cleats.
(size 3 Ball and jersey are provided)

In-House Recreational Program Information

The In-House Recreational program includes 9 weeknight practices at Hotchkiss Field in the town of Prospect and 8 Saturday morning games. The program starts at U4 with Mini-Hawks. Games are played on Saturday mornings against teams within each team's own division. Scores and standings are not kept and every player is guaranteed to play at least 50% of each game (except in the event of injury or discipline).

The registration fee includes a shirt, an end of the season party, and a weekly curriculum for parent coaches to follow. Coaches are always in need. There is no soccer experience necessary, just a willingness to work with children and to learn.

Safety
A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous to himself or another player (including any kind of jewelry).

Basic equipment
The basic compulsory equipment of a player comprises the following separate items:

  • a jersey or shirt with sleeves - if undergarments are worn, the color of the sleeve must be the same main color as the sleeve of the jersey or shirt
  • shorts - if undershorts or tights are worn, they must be of the same main color as the shorts
  • socks
  • shin guards
  • soccer cleats

Shin guards

  • are covered entirely by the socks
  • are made of rubber, plastic or a similar suitable material
  • provide a reasonable degree of protection
  • stop 2-3 inches below the knee

Soccer Ball
The ball should be the appropriate size for the players age.

  • Size 2 - U4 - U5
  • Size 3 - U6 - U8
  • Size 4 - U9 - U12
  • Size 5 - U13 and up

Travel Program Information
The Travel Program includes 2 local to Prospect weeknight practices per week for 1-1.5 hours each over an 8-10 week season.  Travel typically starts in late August 1-2 weeks prior to InHouse Rec and runs through late Oct.  The typical travel season consists of 8-10 games with 4-5 being local to Prospect and the balance being in surrounding towns (typically not to exceed 30 minutes away).  Games are typically on Saturdays but can occasionally be on Sundays and/or a Friday night.

The travel program starts at U8 with teams broken out by age and gender, and continues for those who are interested up through until players graduate from Highschool.  The registration fee includes training and games for the duration of the season.  Travel players are required to purchase (one-time) the travel uniform kit which includes socks, shorts and 2 jerseys - available at this link:   https://www.signsandshirts.com/pys

PSC Dynamo Premier Information
The Dynamo Premier Program is for the player who simply can't get enough soccer. While our in-house rec and travel programs run for 8-10 weeks during both the Spring and Fall season - the premier program runs year-round and includes Summer training, a summer camp, fall and spring practices (2x/week) and games, 18 weeks of Winter indoor training and indoor games and a Memorial Day tournament.  Many of the Dynamo teams also attend tournaments throughout the season including college showcase tournaments (for the older age groups) to assist in opening doors and providing college coach visibility for those who aspire to compete in college.

The premier program starts at U9/10 with teams broken out by age and gender, and continues up through U19 - with tryouts required for all age groups.   The program is friendly with other sports (eg players can still do other sports as schedules permit) and is also Travel friendly (meaning players can do both Travel and Premier.

The annual PSC premier season runs from 7/1 through 6/31 but teams are always open to supplemental tryouts.
